    Re: Ricoh MPC4504 Bypass Trouble

is the jammed paper a little bit damadged (a notch) at the leading edge?
Perhaps something in the paper path is blocking the paper

I don't see any notches, I have parts on order, I'm thinking maybe either the actuator or the entrance sensor may be faulty. I will let you know what I find out.

Isn't there an SP on the 4504 that commits the bypass to either short or long paper? In other words, it only detects width. Depending on how sp is set, will feed 11" LEF or 11x17 but not both. Consequently, it will feed 11r or 8 1/2x14. SP 1007-001 sets priority length detect.

The first thing to replace is the full set of bypass rollers. The next is to increase the registration loop.

Yes it worked flawlessly up until two weeks ago and the copier is two years old.

Have the bypass rollers ever been replaced in that two year period? Rather long to expect them to last.

    Re: Ricoh MPC4504 Bypass Trouble

Worked until two weeks ago? As in customer called in with the problem you described? Or did it happen after being worked on?
New set of rollers? Correct rollers (AF031046/ 2046/ 0049)? Are any of them on backwards (Seems impossible to do it, but have to ask)?
Is it possible there is an obstruction in the path just past the rollers?

Either way, the complete bypass table part number (Found in Parts catalog under Duplex section) is D2412627. This is just the table with the rotary switch, and size sensor, and side fences though, no drive parts in there.

I played with an xx04 in our shop, and completely removed the paper present sensor/ actuator from the bypass and it would just ask for paper. So I would trip the flag, hit start, and release the flag to make it seem like paper wasn't there anymore, and it would still feed just fine. So I'm thinking your problem may not be sensor related. Also, I held the Pickup roller in the up position, and it still fed paper with just the other two rollers.
