Ricoh MP C5503 SC186

Hi all,

I’m facing an SC186 error on a Metis 5503 with the single pass DF It will jam twice then throw SC186

We’ve never seen this before so bit stuck as to next step.

Manual states:
“Reconnect the power/signal harness. 2. Replace the following parts: • Replace the CIS and CIPB. • Replace the CIS background white roller. • Replace the power/signal harness. • Replace the ADF main control board”
Any guys out there seen this issue before?

I'm looking at replacing the CIS but very high cost part!

Any suggestions appreciated!

I've replaced several. Make sure the white roller in the door is spotless as it is the "white plate" for the CIS

Maybe a silly question but to get the machine running again as a temp measure is there a way to disable the single pass & set the DF to dual scan!?

I had this on a B\W 6002 series. Just to the left of the CIS is a mylar strip that will collect junk..Getting under it and cleaning it off resolved my problem. Its quick and easy.

This was the fix, just a small bit of hard toner etc cleaned off & it worked.

My tech was a little embarrassed......................
