I will check 7-404-001 this time and see if that points me anywhere, and the Java too.
Might also go armed with a HDD just in case.

This one has been a weird case for us. Most of the others were solved by f/w, drivers, and customer training.
We went almost a month without coding after removing a "Camera Direct Print" card (maybe controller related??), but now it's back to daily.

    Thanks again for any insight.
May not have anything to do with your issue but check SP5866-110 is 0. if its trying to email out auto meter once a month, this will turn that off.
This is not associated with @REMOTE it's an alternative meter email method.
Also we have had SC899 when a customer is printing from the internet. You will also need to find out which PC it is coming from & clear it from the print que or it will just come right back.

When you updated the firmware, did you update the Java, too?

Even though nothing is using it, it still makes a difference.

Seems that this model gets its kicks by throwing SC899 codes.
    agreed

When you updated firmware did you use package or module firmware. If you used package, redo using module firmware. When you use module firmware be sure to select everything and not just those modules that are not up to date. This will overwrite any corrupted firmware.

Make sure nothing is using JAVA.

Slim, when I updated firmware I did all the individual modules.

KenB, Was going to update java, and then just decided to disable it.

Checked my SC history, and it was indeed a "File: fax" in details. Removed fax unit, and got 870-11 addr. book error., so I initialized all addr. books 5846, and got that to go away, but the 899 came back.
Replaced HDD yesterday afternoon. Just waiting now, will update if it comes back or not.

Re: MP C305 - SC899 Will not go away (not connected to network).

UPDATE: It's been 4 weeks since I replaced the HDD, and I thought we were in the clear, BUT...….I was wrong. So now we will start going down the board path (DIMMS - 1st/ BCU/ Controller/ etc.).

Customer says it still only pops up when trying to make a copy (duplex through ADF). I've got to think it's something memory related, but it's such an odd case, that I'm actually not sure what to think anymore. Customer is not happy.

Still appreciate all the help everyone has given.

Sorry to hear the HDD didn't work. I thought for sure that would correct the problem. Recently read somewhere (maybe here) that an ADF was causing a machine to throw 8** codes. I'll see if I can find it if its related to this issue.

Re: MP C305 - SC899 Will not go away (not connected to network).

I agree with guitar9199 in regards to the Controller PCB being at fault. These boards seem to cause multiple errors - still. Just had 1 in May throw the 2 codes SC878 and then SC672. The first Controller PCB Ricoh shipped was defective out of the box. I was fortunate to have a backup C305 in the shop that I took the BICU/Controller/DIMM/NVRAM to prove that the problem was still with the Controller PCB. Surprisingly, Ricoh was very accommodating in sending me the second Controller PCB - no questions asked.

Going there today armed with a controller, after Re-talking with Ricoh support, that's what they suggest this time around. I agree with you guitar9199, should save me some time . Luckily we have about a dozen of these machines in the graveyard to pick from. Still hate these machines the most out of any series.

    Thanks again guys.
