Ricoh 2022 fax & hard drive question

Customer has 2022sp with print scan fax and hard drive.

Can I remove the scan and hard drive and just leave it with print and fax options without having the "fax address book" error message?

Had to replace hard drive twice for "please wait" issues, and customer doesn't use scan and would be happy with just print and fax.

nope, you will not be able to do duplex coping if you take out the hard drive. the adress book error can be removed with an SP code.
We can all Win, but at the end we all loose. Save the greyhound

I know but, as I said I already replaced it twice so I think something else is taking it out.

    I have run into this.
It turned out the customer was turning off the main power switch every night.
I told them to let the machine turn itself off and the problem went away.
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

since march 2008 the hdd has failed twice.
they don't ever turn the main power switch off because they get faxes overnight.

since this was a lease return when I sold it to them in march, I assumed that the previous owner may have been powering it down improperly causing the first failure, but since the new owner never turns it off must be something else.

I'm not entirely shure where this machine generation does store the adress book but these fax-related data loss/error can also be forced by a bad connection of the MBU (memory board unit - is hooked on the fax board) or if it's battery switch is not set up to "ON".

I have pulled the machine into the shop and removed hard drive.

I can definitely say that the duplex and sort function do work without a hard drive installed.

anyone know which sp will clear the address book error message?

turning off and on the machine does reset the sc code but that won't help until you fixed the problem what is forcing this error message.

Like I mentioned before you should take a close look at the MBU. And mayby you should do a factory reset of the fax module: entering service mode -> fax SP - > don't have the rest in mind but that's self explaing if you see the options inside the fax SP.
