It might be the paper, if 2 sheets are not being separated.

Does this happen when you do a large printout, such as a full SMC printout?

I think you need to try to narrow it down to whether it's an internal problem or something going on with the scanner area, but I don't think that's the problem. If there is anything going on with the scanner, it might have something to do with a board going a bit flaky, but, as Jomama said, it might be something more simple, such as double-feeding.

It's easy to get frustrated when machines do stuff like this. Did you run 4-911-xxx HDD media check and/or formatting? Also, have you updated or reloaded the firmware?

Before you tear into it, I'd so the simple stuff first:

    1) print out a multiple page internal printout, such as a full SMC

    2) Hdd media check/format

    3) firmware reload

    4) Do a quick re-seat of HDD connections in the back

The are much cheaper and may fix the problem. Yes, it could be a board, but I'd do other easier things first, just to help narrow it down a bit.

It really sounds like a HDD or RAM problem - an error check may find a bad sector, mark it, and the problem goes away. Format does about the same. Engine clear will wipe out the bad sector data, and alter the way the machine fills the HDD, so the problem may look like it went away, but really it just moved.

This machine requires that you use the MCE Ricoh software, download the .bin firmware file from the Ricoh Tech website, and load it to a PCMCIA card via the MCE software and a PCMCIA card reader, or just use a laptop with a built in reader.

If you haven't done it before, you'll probably not be able to do it without some assistance. It's a bit difficult at first.

    just for your information.

the final solution of this problem is the BICU board is faulty.
I ve change it and the machine run smoothly.
