    Aficio AF-350, Doc feeder question.

    Aficio AF-350, Doc feeder question.

Gives often jams, documents are just stalling. Replaced all takeup/sep rollers, and take up belt as well as one way clutches. Doc feed belt is not yet replaced.

I noticed that the drive motor turns as it should be but it seems that the doc feed belt stalls but could not figure out why. Are there any one way clutches in the drive train motor > doc feed belt I might have overlooked? I never had a doc feed belt slipping in other copiers I have serviced but could that be the reason here according to your experience with those Ricoh's? Don't want to invest in the wrong part and I'm unsure cause Ricoh is not exactly my main brand.

There is also a one way mechanism inside that white thingy where you slide in the feed beld/pick up roller shaft assy. The feed beld holder has been changed, see this MB:

    Model: NAD 30S/30/40 DF(DF67) Date: 28-Mar-01 No.: MA680008
Modified Article: Holder - Belt Drive Roller Prepared by: E. Fukuyama
From: Technical Services Dept., GTS Division
    Reason for
    Modification:
    Parts catalog correction
    To facilitate assembly
    Part standardization
    Vendor change
    To improve reliability
    Other
    To meet standards
    ( )
To prevent multi-sheet feeding, the contact surface area between the feed belt and
separation roller has been reduced by changing the shape of the belt drive roller
    holder and the pick-up lever.
    Not
e: The new holder and pick-up lever must be installed together as a set. This is
because if the new holder (A6801822) is used with the old lever (A6801871), the
decreased friction between the roller and paper may cause misfeeds.

Danke Jan, yes we made that mod. Its not that much double feeding. The problem is that the originals are not being transported on/off the glass platen. I had the feeling that the doc feed belt wasn't driven all the time or perhaps dragging occasionally.

    "doc feed beld"

Do you talk about the big white transport belt (die Matte) or the little gred feed belt (das Einzugsband, was nach der Vorschubrolle kommt)?

I never had any trouble with the transport belt - 99% of the trouble I had with this DF occured at the feed/separation process.

And I'm not mad about the fact that we only have 1-2 machines of this type left in the field

check the foam rollers behind the transport belt

Foam rollers under the belt can wear out and stop driving the belt, and im sure you have poliched the glass? As its amazing what even cheap furtinure polish will do when the glass loses its slide.

There is a mod for a couple of the gears in the DF drive assembly too, I had install it on a NAD about a year ago and it cleared up all sorts of wierd jamming issues.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.
