Damn.
I'm sitting here looking at a copy of your example. What happens if you lay the original on the glass and make a copy?

NEVER ASSUME ANYTHING
If you lay the original on the glass and leave the document feeder open and make several copies, is your scanner movement smooth and performing a full 11x8 1/2 scan each time? You may have already done this, but I am just trying to eliminate the possibilty of a mechanical malfunction with the scanner. Also when you do this does your lamp brightness stay steady or flicker?
NEVER ASSUME ANYTHING
Could it be possible that one of your mirrors is missing it's securing clips and is just floating around in the light source unit? I ask this because the problem characteristics change between scans.
NEVER ASSUME ANYTHING
As far as the mechanical side goes, make sure that your scanner motor pulley is secured to the shaft and that the tension spring is on the motor assembly to prevent the belt from slipping its teeth.
NEVER ASSUME ANYTHING
Guicho, I am getting ready to call it day. I am very interested in this problem, so post an update on your repair. I will check back in tomorrow. I am just sorry we haven't figured it out yet. If the scanner motor components are OK, I would say were looking for an electrical malfunction. We have covered all the mechanicals I can think of.
NEVER ASSUME ANYTHING
have you try to check the scanner free run lamp on sp 4013 001 the light sould always be ON....
fix the customer first then fix the machine... its simple and makes life more easy.
