Try lifting up on the front left corner of the scanner.
Don't take that toner with me!

YES, push up the scanner assembly while making a copy. Savin Acknowledges the 2535/2545 has this issue. Customer puts too much weight on console and it makes the scanner assembly tilt thus causing dark or black streaks on copies. The 4035/4045 also has this problem, but Savin won't admit to it.

If that doesn't work maybe an SBU problem?

Might be something as simple as VERY dusty optics? :\

    Clean the optics first

Yeah would hope you've cleaned optics/dusted first. Standard Maintenance.

Sorry to say, but dirty optics will give you light copies not dark, dirty optics will give you dark copies if the machine is analog, not digital, just my two cents.

I too, am sorry you said that. Dirty optics will still cause dark copies. Dirt is still dirt and digital or analog cant tell the difference between a film on scan glass or a gray original.
Light copies can be caused by a dirty laser scan glass.

I'm with you!! dust = pale copies!

Best check for the problem on this machine is take one copy from the glass and one using the ADF. If the ADF copy has the background it's the scanner frame bent!

To tes, just lift the corner of the scanner and take an ADF copy while lifting. The new copy shold be OK.

To cure, "Reform" the frame! lift and release until the gap between the left frame and the edge of the ADF is uniform from front to back.

There was a bracket available which could be screwed to the left frame of the scanner to prevent this problem!
