    Can't speak to Ricoh, but...

Kyocera has had a few batches of bad displays. The official explanation is that the conductive adhesive that adheres the ribbon cable to the face develops resistance/loses connection. It wouldn't surprise me if they used the same supplier of touch displays as Ricoh. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I was having a moan about this back in December 08 and no body in the northen hemisphere seemed to have much of a problem with it. Its the end of winter here now and the field techs arn't going through as many as they were in summer. Perhaps its heat related?
At least 50% of IT is a solution looking for a problem.

We had a couple when it was hot the other month. Luckily an English summer only lasts a week.

why should we do all touch screens preventifly now and not the only ones who are realy defective (1/100)?

    who agrees?
Annoying to have to do and of course can course a lot of problems if you go in for a paperjam and start fiddling with the op pannels many will be like
But as the replacments i belive for ricoh europe cost 1 cent at present and prevention is better than fighting fires in the majority of cases. Its probably for the best.

The problem in the UK did seem to go though the roof as other Brits mentioned in the "summer" all one week of it

So during the busy period for many copier companies ie after the summer break sept/oct if its fairly warm as sometimes happens or the heating is switched on automatically or to test for the winter as many workplaces do i have noticed causing one off freakish issues. I guess there will be another big wave of my touchscreen doesn't work calls.

    How much was it then?

We only replace the touch pannel (b2239900) and the rest is payed by Ricoh Japan!

That could be possible, as we've had our two days of summer here in the UK and I had one of these go. Makes ya think......
