    Aficio 2090 SC990

We have a 2090 that is giving us heaps of trouble, randomly in the middle of a print or copy run it just freezes with the motors still running and paper through out the system. Eventally it stops and throws up a SC990 code.
So far we have upgraded firmware, fitted drum and dev, replaced both HDDs and changed the controller board.

    Anybody got any bright ideas?

Did you look at the SC history ? many times with 990 there will be another code that comes the same time as the 990. Otherwise it could be anything. You could try manually running process control and see it if comes up.

1st: If you changed your HDD you must download the stamp data to your hard drives SP 5853, StampData contains your engine and system information and should be put written to your disks.
    2nd: Check this MB.
    3rd: check your Door switchs

We can all Win, but at the end we all loose. Save the greyhound

No, the only code logged is the SC990.

Ricoh Oz Tech Support want us to change the drum ID sensors, they recon they only last 4,000k, I've never heard of that one. Anybody else changed sensors?

Good thinking Imind, it could be something as simple as a dodgy microswitch!

ID and or pot sensors have caused similar issues on AF2090. Have you also checked the drum shaft and the drum earth?

No experience on the 2090. But all these things can result in the elusive 990.

How about the DIMM? The Hard Drive Harness? All fans keeping boards cool?

I'll back the Charge Wire -swap out the whole unit. This should give a SC30x but I've had them lock the machine before. Also check the static brushes in the fuser / exit. On that note, what is the humidity like there?
I've also had a BCU board die, but the $$$ makes that a last option.

When you say the motors are still running, does the machine feed all the paper to the exit before the code occurs? Or leave jams in the paper path?

Any jam codes / other service codes on the SMC?

    A few ideas....

Does this happen only on sort / staple jobs? Watch the finisher exit tray as the paper feeds and check the movement up and down is regular. I've had weird faults with the finisher shift tray lift motor. The machine will run on if the emergengy stop button on the finisher is pushed and a job is the started, originals will feed but the machine will not feed paper, could be something related??
