Exclamation Ricoh Aficio 2051 Feed Problem

This machine is beating me up.
The PCU unit was changed due to worn gears on the front related to toner
augering. Unfortunately the paper feeds through the registration rollers and gets directed down under the transfer belt assembly. We retraced the removal and installation of thr PCU unit a couple of times with the same result. The transfer belt assembly wasn't worked on at all. We tried different paper sizes in case that me the problem. All sheets seem to come out of the registration rollers and travel down under instead of going accross the transfer belt and under the drum. The errror message in the display indicates a problem in the D1 area which relates to the fuser but the paper isn't reaching this area. I have discussed with Ricoh support but
they are as puzzled as I am. There doesn't appear to be any guide between the registration rollers and the transfer assembly that I am aware of. The drive mechanisms seem ok.
The tough part of this situation is the lack of knowledge on these products.
I could sure use some input to point me in the right direction..
    Thanks for your time..
    Ed

Hello, Not sure if my memory serve me right. I think this machine has colour paper regon on this machine. Turn this of under user sp mode for all trays. This causes jamming if left on. I would also change reg sns as it get coverd in dust.
    hope this helps.

One of our guys had (and solved) a similar problem!

I believe he loosened the screws holding the aluminium (UK spelling!!!) bracket on which the I.D sensor is fixed to the drum unit side plates and moved it (Not sure if up or down) then re tightened the screws. This adjusted the gap between the lead edge of the transfer rollers and the reg guide and solved the problem. I would try max up then max down and test on a run.

    Smile Thanks for the replies

I will look for these items mentioned in the replies.
What makes me wonder is with the PCU being brand new if this could cause the problem. I agree with dust on the registration sensor as a possible cause as the location is poor at best. I will post my findings.

    Any other input greatly appreciated.

    Thanks
    ED

Did you remove the packing off the drum claws?

    Thanks again for the replies

    Hey Venom
I think we have communicated before on other products. Been a while.
Anyway there didn't appear to be any packin material on the drum pick off
claws. Also the paper doesn't get that far during copying.

    Hey tcs04

I am confused about the guide on the lead edge of the transfer unit and
the registration guide. The reason I say that is we haven't moved anything out of adjustment to the best of my knowledge when installing the replacement PCU. Lowered the transfer unit by moving the handle
then remove developer unit followed by the PCU. Could we have missed
something in this procedure? We followed the procedure as in the service
    manual.

    Thanks
    ED

    Hey Ed
Yes we communicated long ago, either smarka or copier network.
There are little clear rubber tubes used as packing on the claws. I would look in sc history to see if it is coding out. Did you remove transfer unit?

    Smile Thanks again

    Hey Venom
I must say I didn't look real close for any packing on the pick-offs at PCU
assembly and if they are clear plastic then they might have been missed. What troubles me is that the paper doesn't get onto the transfer belt assembly. We did notice that when we first closed up the transfer assembly it didn't seem to travel up far enough and the front panel wouldn't close. At that point we removed the PCU unit again to allow the
transfer unit to lift up properly. We then reinstalled the PCU back in the machine and were able to close up the front panel as it should. As I said we never had the transfer unit out of the machine. Do you think the transfer assembly might not be aligning correctly to allow the paper to exit the registration rollers properly? We couldn't see where any alignment
could be off but then this is our one and only model.

    Thanks
    Ed
