Upgrade all your Ricohs to Kyoceras. Kyoceras have this ability built-in. You just set them to send a maintenance report via email at the interval of your choosing.
But I'm trying, Ringo. I'm trying real hard... to be the Shepherd.

We use PrintFleet. It's provided as a service by the leasing company we use to gather meters remotely. You have to load a data collection agent on a server or another computer on the subnet that's always turned on. You then specify how often the data collection agent strobes the specified IP range; it then puts a packet together that e-mails the lease company. We can look at the color & black meters, what the supply level is, etc. You can even see what the image on the copier display is. There is a cost...we pay a certain number of cents per meter, but it's worth it.

It is possible to auotmate the process of meter reading collection from Ricoh MFDs/printers. There are a couple of options.

@Remote. You would require 2 'Basil' boxes to manage the complete fleet.

WebSmartDeviceMonitor 2.0 freeware available from Ricoh although it will require licencing (via registration). It will require a dedicated PC to run but is able to monitor device status and email alerts. It can also be configured to retrieve meter readings from the devices and email the data to recipients on a scheduled basis of your choosing.

    Who cares?

If your admin staff are too stupid to enter a bunch of meter readings then that's their problem.

The @remote system uses secure servers in Japan and cannot get the readings from the machines, the machine sends them to the central server - have you never heard of network security?

Ricoh & Java? Developer Challenge ?

This is a good message to sameone make the solution. I work with web smart device monitor and @remote.

Web smart device monitor - to eavy, the client must have a good computer to run this software. And the counter apear in develops, if you want the print you must count all develops in copier, printer, fax etc. wayste to much time to do it.

@remote - This solution maybe is the best one, use HTTPS. the problem is in big companys they have the port closed and some times don't want to open.

    Anyone use something diferent?

    Hi guys,
We are using good program can get all the details of counters print, copy, fax ,color , B&W.
And also notify us by mail or SMS as well as error notification , and can send many useful reports such department usage, users usage, total by department, user device…extra………..
It is chargeable application but it is much much cheaper than @ remote and it can do the same.
With @ remote all your customer’s data can be capture by ricoh japan!!!! So be careful.

And also all the GW2005 and higher can be monitor without print/scan option, in this application.

    Regards
    Feras

Brother, can you spare a URL?

You never realize how cheap a professional is until after you let an amateur do it.
