    That way you can print to the machine by name, example "RNP123456\Aficio1515", instead of using Port 9100 (Standard TCP/IP Port) or LPR.

    That comes in kinda handy when the customer uses DHCP for their printers, and won't set up a reservation for the machine. If the IP address changes, it won't matter.

    Small note..

    I've done this MANY TIMES. No problem. However I set it up at a customer using AT&T DSL with the 2Wire Modem/Router combo. Worked Fine till the next day. Not sure if AT&T rebooted the router or what. But SMB Printing was just fubar. Had to do the IP Route.

    SMB Scanning still worked, but all the printers in the Control Panel would not come online.
