    Fold thick paper

    Hey guys,

We've got a lot of customers asking for the ability to fold (and staple) thicker papers, like in the 160g region. We've always turned them down, since Ricoh says the max paper weight when folding is 90g.

You can actually use up to 120g with the "middle thick" setting, but just for so many copies before the fuser drops in temp and the toner starts smearing.

Now, I've tried to hack the PS3 driver (only because it's the easiest) to try and remove the conflict warnings you get when you choose folding and thick 1, but I can't say I've succeded. I'm not even sure the machine will do as I tell it to, even if I manage to trick the driver into sending those settings.

Anyone know anything about this? Or have any other option?
    Peace sells, but who's buying?

Messing with a really grey area there. I wouldn't do this because I think you would cause extra torque/tear on gears and motors.

Yeah, I know. But I've got a plan for that as well. If we could tell those specific customers that request the possibility to buy the function, and put quite a price on it, it would work out.

Have you tried going into SP mode, taking the settings from the Thick 1 mode, and plugging them into the settings for middle thick mode (fuser and reg. motor speed, temp, transfer current, etc.)?
Don't take that toner with me!
