    Scan to email

    I want to use scan to email from aficio 2045e.
    When i put our firm's smtp information into the machine, i can use scan to email.
    But when i put in my gmail smtp information, the machine fails to send the file.
    I think the machine can work through the gmail smtp mail server as long as the information is correct.
    The gmail infomations that i typed in for scan to email are
    server name : smtp.gmail.com
    port number : 465 (that is gmaill smtp port number, not 25)
    and my gmail account id and password.

    Can i use scan to email via gmail smtp?
    or is there any other public smtp server for scan to email.

    Is SSL enabled?
    Go User Tools-> System Settings-> Interface Settings-> Page down-> Permit SSL/TLS comm. Select "CipherText priority"

    Also, make sure the Adim's e-mail matches the Gmail account.

    Ricoh copiers do not support SSL over SMTP.
    To work around this, change the Outgoing SMTP server to smtp.googlemail.com using port 25.

    I have had to use Stunnel or Mercury mail to relay the scan to GMail's server.

    Smile This might help ?

    Scanning to google mail needs to be setup through aspmx.l.google.com (or IP address 74.125.53.27) no Authentication is needed

    It also requires the "Senders\Administrators email address" to be Valid

    You cannot Telnet into this server from Run or do a connection test from the Copiers Interface but it does work,

    You will probably have better luck posting this question in the Kyocera forum, though someone here may have an answer.

    Personally, I've about had it up to my ears in trying to get scanning to work with Gmail and Ricoh products.

    What I normally do is test with my personal "test" GMX account, and see if that works.

    If it does, I have the customer set up their own account to use with the machine. Of course, that's not a good idea if they will be doing a bunch of scanning.

    If it does not, there is a very good chance that their ISP is blocking outbound SMTP, in which case no provider will work. It seems like I've been seeing more and more of this lately; it just happened one day last week.

    When scan to email simply won't work, hopefully it's a machine that can scan to folder, or possibly FTP.

    I have never gotten Gmail to work but like Ken said GMX will work until the decide to require SSL. I have set a few people up with GMX but I don't really like to it feels like a hack.

    Re: Scan to email gmail and stunnel

    i spent quite literally 2 weeks trying to get stunnel to work so my canon copier would talk to gmail.

    the problem was that i could enable SSL on the canon copier but i could not change the port. so it wouldnt talk to gmail.

    here is my stunnel.conf for any one who is having as much trouble as i did getting stunnel and gmail to work.
    the gmail account im sending from has pop/imap enabled in the mail settings in gmail.
    192.168.150.2 is my internal windows server's ip running stunnel.
    i could not get 127.0.0.1 to work as the outgoing or incoming mail server's ip in the copier.
    i just put my stunnel server's ip in the copier as the mail server: 192.168.150.2
    also i think i had to turn off or on smtp auth on the copier for it to work. your mileage may vary...

    just copy paste this into your stunnel.conf for gmail.

    cert = stunnel.pem
    socket = l:TCP_NODELAY=1
    socket = r:TCP_NODELAY=1
    client = yes

    [pop3s]
    accept = 110
    connect = pop.gmail.com:995

    [imaps]
    accept = 143
    connect = imap.gmail.com:993

    [ssmtp]
    accept = 25
    connect = smtp.gmail.com:465
