    ap3800c jams at 63 constant

63 is the external tray. after copying, the paper leaves hanging out of the exit just before settling on to the standard tray. i suspect it might be the exit actuator on the fusing unit that stays down after the paper goes through the fuser unit. the actuater does not come back up. is there a tension spring missing??

    what else can it be?

There should be a spring attached to the actuator shaft and hooked on the flag. The exit sensor may also be flaky, contaminated with oil or knocked out of the frame slightly, causing the actuator to hang up. The exit actuator is part of the exit guide assy, part # is B1494010. The sensor is AW020120.

After rereading your original post it appears you're saying the paper is exiting to the standard tray (on top of printer) instead of the external tray (left side). If that's correct then you have a junction gate malfunction (solenoid n/w, plastic actuator broken on end of gate, etc.). The solenoid default setting is off and would direct the paper to the standard tray instead of the external tray. Do an output check to the solenoid to check operation.

it was actually the spring missing on the fuser unit exit actuator. thanks
