    MPC 2500 twisted optics

I have a mpc2500 which blurrs the last 3rd of the image only on A3 from the glass. If I lift up
the left front corner of the scanner when copying this reduces but does not clear completely.
Does anyone have any idea for a fix for this or do I have to replace the whole scanner assy?

I've had a couple of dropped machines that had this symptom. There really is no procedure for this situation. I was able to get both of my machines to work after ~6 hours of straightening frame members and alignment pins (you should have seen the salesman's face when I pulled out a hammer). There is no guarantee that a new scanner assembly will scan perfectly focussed if the scanner is attached to a twisted frame.

My suggestion is to straighten as many twisted frame members as you can, and see where it gets you. Modern scanners frequently do not offer the wide range of focus and squareness adjustments that were available 15 yrs ago. Mainly its the focal length that is mis-adjusted. Try to adjust the scanner frame so that the blurry area is even across the trail of the A3 size print. Then adjust the focal length to regain proper focus. I don't know the specifics of the Ricoh you're taking about. I'd look for a cable pinch attachment on the scanner cable for light source #1 (the one with the lamp and first mirror). I personally would leave the CCD position as the last resort. It's a fine adjustment and very easy to make it much worse. As a rule, I usually have to make it worse before I make it better.

Try to be patient. It's a very gradual improvement that you're looking for. Let us know how it goes. =^..^=

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.

If my memory serves me right, there are some screws which you can adjust. You see them when you remove the scanner covers.

Do it the westfalian way: Distract your Customer (Hey, look at the helicopter in front of your Window), grab the Front left Corner of the Scanner with both Hands and give it a hard pull upwards. Works in most Cases for me

if a heavy person leans on the left side of the scanner they can break part of the frame that keeps the left side in alignment with the right side.

Get your facts first, and then you can distort them as much as you please.
