Thanks, yes, I've checked that while still at the customer's. If that was the case, the machine would return an HSYNC error (as it did when I tried to block it - it at least confirmed that the laser diode is emiting).

    Cheers!

I managed to finally SEE the laser working and found out that the laser beam stays put at the end of the drum during the entire copy cycle except for the end of the job, where it sweeps the entire drum to clean the leftover charge. Trouble is it does it with two different laser assemblies and two different control boards.
So what's left? That's right, we need to try with a different touch panel assembly (maybe it has something broken that triggers this symptom).

Sorry, my bad I didn't make it clear before - the machine does this trouble while copying and printing internal prints. Although I mentioned printing in one of the posts, I didn't emphasize it. Thanks for the tip, though - every help counts.

This POS is driving me mad. Of course at this time it would be simpler to just swap the effing thing, but my boss wants to know what happened - and, to be honest, I want too.

I decided to take a video from the laser working to share with you. In it you can see the laser doing an initial sweep to the entire drum, then the beam stays put at the right side during the entire copy process and, at the end, it does a final sweep. Pay no attention to the paper coming out with a black stripe - it's caused by the ambient light hiting the drum.

We already swapped virtually everything on the machine: PSU, Control Board, Laser unit and Operation panel. I've even taken out the door switch and shunted the wires to rule it out.

    Blank Copies
    Possible Cause
    • Poor drum sensitivity.
    • Laser optic components are out of position.
    • The proper bias voltages are not applied to the toner application roller and/or the development
    roller.
    • The proper current is not applied to the transfer roller.
    Action
    1. Print a test pattern, and open the cover in the middle of printing.
    2. Check to see if there is toner adhered to the drum surface.
If there is, do the following. If not, go to step 3.
    • Check to see if the cartridge is correctly installed.
    • Check to see if the transfer roller is correctly positioned.
    3. Check to see if the cartridge is empty. If it is, replace the cartridge.
