SP1000 with blank copies after new toner

    Good morning.

We got this description from a customer via phone caliming that after putting in a new toner and inserting the card that came with it, the machine only spits out white copies.

He didn't buy the toner from us, though, so we can't say for sure if the toner is OEM, but we're assuming it is since the customer says so (and until we go there and check for ourselves).

    Any tips?

    Thanks!

    Sorry for the delay.

Thank you for your input, but the machine still has the same problem with a different imaging unit.

We got the machine brought into the shop, so we still don't know what's wrong - but it's most probably going to need parts.

    Check this post here.

These machines are Samsungs. Buy a new one and give it to the customer - the warranty should never be longer than the Ricoh 1st year one and make sure the customer fills out the warranty card so you don't have to even go and look at them!

Still don't know what's the problem with this POS. Replaced the main PCB, the PSU and the laser from a working machine, and dismantled the damned thing to check the connectors - still the same. I don't know what else to do - I'm going to browse the service manual to look for any clues.

Just ruled out the HV assembly. Managed to point a flashlight onto the drum while the machine was printing and it made a nice black band on the paper.

Now either the laser is not working (not likely, since I tried with a laser from another machine), the mainboard is defective (also not likely for the same reason) or there's something wrong with the laser path (which I can't find, since everything seems to be in place).

Now if only I could find that hammer...

How many hours in invested in this thing? We don't warrant any work if off brand supplies or labor has been done to it.

As for third-party supplies or labor, everything seems to be in order, there's no evidence of either one on the machine.

I've spent already some hours on this thing, as well as my colleague. Our luck is that, at this time of year, work slows down, and thus we have some spare time to spend on lemons like this one.

Did you check the shutter that blocks the laser beam path when the front door is open? The customer may have broken the tab on the front door that pushes in the shutter (that's part of the laser unit, it's actually a tab that pushes into the laser assembly and blocks the beam).
