    Ricoh 2022 scans too light

Ricoh 2022 too light ONLY on scans.
Copies, prints, and even the same page saved to document server are all fine.

Tried changing scan settings but even with density setting on dark, the scan is coming out too light.

Customer mostly notices it on signed documents where the signature, in blue or black ink is broken up or partly missing.
And like I said I can copy the same page or save it to the document server and print it out and the same page looks perfect.

Would you be able to post an example of what the scan looks like? Since it prints and copies just fine, I am inclined to think that it is a color profile on the customer's PC that's interpreting the colors wonky, but I'd be curious to see anyway

How are they scanning? Twain or scan to email/folder?
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

Is the scanned document in PDF or TIFF format? If the image is light on the PC monitor and they print it back to the same mfp are you saying it looks normal? If so, I would suspect it's an issue on the client end. One way to eliminate or confirm the mfp as the problem is to have a scanned document forwarded to your laptop and open it there.

he said he is ussing Adobe and he loads the oringinal in the doc feeder and goes back to his computer to scan so I am thinking Twain.

The image is light on his pc monitor and also if he prints the scan back to the copier, same light image.

Make sure he is not scanning in photo mode.

Make sure the scanner is level and the optics are clean. If the left front corner is bent down from constant pressure on it, you can get light scans (more pronounced using the adf than the platen). Try lifting up on that corner while scanning and see if it makes a difference.

If the customer is using twain, then have him go to details on the computer, when the pop-up come up where he can chose what setting/set-up are available. The window will expand when the "detail" option is clicked on. Once there go to the brightness and contrast buttons, go to the negative side for darker on both. and change the resolution for clarity.
    I hope this helps.

You could set the scan DPI default higher.. I think it's defaulted to 200, set it up to 4 or 600.
