have u tried the clutches on tray 1?Clutches are not part of the stations.
Check the mylar on the back of the paper guide at the registration roller. I've had those when they start to wear, they cause a burr which int. catches the paper before they finally get bad enough to catch it most times. I've had a few of these do that and it catches from tray 1 first because of the sharp bend it makes to get there from tray 1.
Cleaned clutch and problem seems to have gone away
I'd replace it, it'll do the same again soon.
