    what about the toner inside ? does the old toner cartridge need to be re chipped or can the copier be told to manually ignore chip?

    Don't put the toner from one into another! There is a reason the bottles are configured not to fit one another. The MPC3000 has a higher melting point then the MPC2550 (20° higher). What is your reasoning for wanting to do this? You won't save money cause you'll sure as heck have a mess on your hands. Also consider that you will be voiding any warranty and will not be covered under any service contract.
