Working on a Lanier LD 238c, has black line on copies. They show up even when you do single color copies, Yellow, Cyan and Magenta. No marks on fuser rollers or oil roller. Somwhat of a repeating pattern on the black line. See attached sample. Any ideas?
It looks like black primary charge, to me. The focussed charge in one area will cause not-cleaning problems on the drum. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

That would be caused by the black pcu due to insufficient drum cleaning which cause buildup on the charge roller. If you don't have a replacement handy, you can remove the front cap of the pcu (2 screws) and remove the drum (apply a little pressure to separate the front of the drum from its front holder and lift out). You now have access to the blade and charge roller for cleaning. FYI, the black pcu is always in contact with the transfer belt, even during single color copies.

Thanks guys that did the trick. Would you advise a ma on this machine or should we stay away from it?
I pretty much advise a MA on any piece of equipment. Without one things don't get done (or things are repaired when the should be replaced) or put off "til next time", creating larger more costly issues down the road. As far as this particular model, they're fairly easy to work on and maintain - except when you have color registration issues with the transfer unit - then it's a pain.
