    Tip: MP5000 - double the Cleaning Web lifetime > 2PM intervals

    I'm using these SP setting for most of our MP4000/5000 to expand the cleaning web lifetime over 2PM intervals (>320k). The cleaning effect under normal toner-coverage condition is still excellent and the used oil web doesn't look much more dirty compared to a web that was running with default settings. Also the hot roller looks excellent - yesterday I did a PM at 470k. That machine is still running with it's first hot roller

    Well, here we go with the settings:

    SP1902-03 (Web Motor Time) -> 1.5
    SP1902-04 (Web Near End Setting) -> 95%

    I must say that the fuser is running very well even it's a bit tricky and time spending to PM the unit (if you have to). This would be a top machine if the toner/dev combo would reach or exceed the 160k interval as well, but we have still issues with the (new) toner/dev so most machines needs to be vacced/cleaned ~60-90k after the last PM.

    Thanks. I've already been doing that on the only machine of that family that I service. Nevertheless is good to get some confirmation that someone else is doing it successfuly.

    Didn't know that. Thanks for sharing this tip!

    But when the customer is printing with high toner coverage? Like printing a lot of photo's (like printing newspapers).

    Have you regapped the doctor blade to a tight .35mm?
    I have done this to every Ricoh 35-45 series developer and I no longer have dusting issues.
    A 5 minute adjustment with long term results.
    Why do they call it common sense?

    If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

    I'm do not service on these machines so you have to check if the SP's are available and give it a try.

    I don't have really any "high coverage" customers running this machine so no experiences from my side but I would give it a try.

    I recall that this hes been debated here before but I didn't give it a try - will do so thanks for the hint!

    Yeah but I prefer to leave the fuser with the oil web - I doubt that the hot roller would last >500k and more with this oil roller mod.

    It does last quite well, I have 3 machines modded and 2 that I've kept webs in. I still havent had to go back to any of these machines so i couldn't tell you the hot roller count but it was at least 6 months since my first mod and no call backs yet, just shot myself in the foot.

    Re: Tip: MP5000 - double the Cleaning Web lifetime > 2PM intervals

    From what I know SP1902-03 (Web Motor Time) -> default value is 4.2. If you use 1.5 you will have problem with the hot roller because there is not enough oil to lubricate and clean it and finally you will have problems with pressure roller also. I use for web motor time value 2.8 which i think is better and the lifetime of web roller increases with about 50-70 %.

    Is there a alternate oil roller that can be used?
