    Pro1107EX SC966

    Hi,

Has anyone had a machine displaying SC966 (Polygon Motor), with an underlying code of SC240 (Laser Diode Board) on a Pro11o7EX or similar?

The machine is only about 3 months old, the laser safety (Door) switches have been tested at the LDB (ok) and there were no similar codes unitil yesterday. The machine is in a school and has had minimal use during the last 3-4 weeks (Holiday)

Just after a quick fix, am attending in the morning but this is a pressure customer so we need the fastest solution. We have the polygon motor on order as a precaution.

Thanks in advance for any info.

    Hello
There is a special bulletin online for treated machines from Type pro...7ex
U have to change ld unit with a special new one what u can order from Ricoh self.
There u can see Serials of defective engines and what is to do.
sorry but i think it is the only way you have to go

    SYMPTOM
Occurrences of SC Codes such as SC240, 241, 242, 243 caused by LD (Laser Diode)
    error.
    CAUSE
Machines of a particular serial number (see lists on the following pages ‘
    Serial Number
List of All Affected Units per Region
’) have been identified with defect in the laser diode
arrays in which the laser is not emitted due to a partially “darkened area” caused by a false
    production process.

    SOLUTION
On your next service visit to these affected serial number machines, please replace the LD
unit using the following special registered part number.
    Part Number: D0599901
    Description: MODIFICATION: LDU
    Note:
To prevent replacing the LDU twice on the same machine, please record the replacement
history for each serial number (Service Management System, Log Books, Visual Sign on
    LDU’s, etc.).
    LDU REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE
The replacement procedure can be found in the service manual as described below:
    Pro 907EX,1107EX,1357EX Service Manual:
Section 3. Replacement and Adjustment > Laser Unit
We can all Win, but at the end we all loose. Save the greyhound

    UPDATE

The part mentioned in the bulletin is apparently "Under development" and therefore not currently available. Through the excellent efforts of the Ricoh UK level 2 support team (Thanks again if you are reading this!) we have obtained and fitted an "old type" unit which is working fine.

It seems the machine displayed an SC742 code as in initial fault and this changed to SC966 and SC240 when the tech arrived.

I mention this because when I attempted a single copy after setting up the LDU the machine produced 2 copies which jammed in the fuser and finisher entrance, also, the finisher booted (all motors ran normally) BUT did not start when copying or printing test patterns, also, the finisher motors would not operate in test mode.

I was only able to cure this fault by booting down, removing the finisher, taking copies (Normal) then rebooting with the finisher attached. the machine then resumed normal operation!

Thanks to all concerned for your input.
