Ricoh aficio 1055 error sc 126

I have just replaced the Polygon Mirror Motor and all went fine. A couple weeks later it started with this error. I can't relate the two issues other than checking the connections. It homes the scanner at power up but is likely returning home too fast after a scan, thereby passing the home position sensor. One of the possible solutions mentioned in the service manual is "Too small load on scanner drive". How do I determine this and/or correct it? Any other possibilities you know of. Thanks.

The set screw on the scanner pulley commonly breaks or backs out on these and can cause scanner errors or the scanner slamming home.
Don't take that toner with me!
