apparently the other tech who followed up for me replaced the lens block CCD. Makes me feel a little better since that is the 2nd time it had to be replaced on that particular machine. Maybe it wasn't me, maybe it's just that machine likes to eat lens block assemblies.

That was before I was a tech, but I understand that the af1224 problems were very similar to the problem I had. I have noticed these c4500's etc. are pretty sensitive in the optics dept. Lines show up sometimes only in color mode suggesting there's something on the filter (do these have a physical filter to split the colors or is it software?) but you clean off the mirrors and it's gone.
