MP 2550 / Mixing Print and Copy jobs.

MP 2550 - Customer explained that there are times when a print job will be mixed with copies - does not happen consistently - requires sorting through in order to separate.

Any thoughts on a possible cause appreciated.

    Thank you -

Get a 1 bin tray or the side tray and divert one of the job types to it and the rest to the internal tray.

You never realize how cheap a professional is until after you let an amateur do it.

And if they're to cheap to get an extra tray they could send the print jobs as 'hold' or 'lock' and print them when the get to the device. I don't believe the prints would normally come out in the middle of a copy job being processed and vice versa, it would print when the current process is finished. What is the priority set to, copy or print?

Set to Copy priority - customer claiming that copies are mixed throughout print job - have not witnessed the problem.

If there is only one output, it's possible that the endusers are just grabbing the stack flipping through it, taking what they want (maybe more), then replacing the shuffled stack. If you've got enough trays available, maybe you can default the prints to a LTR-R tray, and copies to a LTR tray (or vice versa). That way all endusers could more easily identify prints from copies. It still won't prevent them from re-ordering the stack though.

teebee has a good point. Private Print would be a good option to hold back the print jobs.

I see this as a behavioral issue, not a machine issue. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I agree, a print job will not pause to do a copy job and then resume printing. I'd ask them to demonstrate it to you whilst you're there and then throw a cup of hot coffee at them when they can't recreate the "fault."

I had a similar situation on a Brother fax. The endusers insisted that the machine did not print some receptions intermittently, even though they appeared on the Activity Report. When pressed exactly which receptions did not print, a few items were identified on the Activity Report.

What a surprise, when the "unprinted" receptions were found in the recycle box. Most everyone just looked at their feet and wandered away. The person who put in the service call asked me why those receptions were in the recycle box. =^..^=
