MP C 4500 Black Drum Switch

Can someone post the instructions or a link to the procedure (one with pictures preferable?)
On how to convert a Ricoh MP C4500 Black Drum to a Color. I know it’s to do with the pin in the back but that’s about it

You must grind down the corner of the connector on the black pcu to match the angle of the colour connector. It is a very simple and quick procedure but you must be careful not to grind off too much or indeed too little.
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change.

It's more important not to grind off too little (go at least half way through the metal pin). If you don't shave enough off and push it in you will knock out/break the female receptacle in the rear- pull out a color pcu for comparison. That will require replacement of the whole toner supply unit as the harness is not available individually (stupid, I know). I use a flat bastard file but if you have a lot to do you may want to invest in a Dremel grinder, it will pay for itself. The MPC4000/5000 require a wire position swap in addition to filing the connector, search the threads for the directions on that one.

New charge rollers are sticky, so if you get any repeating dots after installing a modified PCU, wipe down the charge roller.
Chances are good that some of the filed material will find its way to the roller.

If you damage the socket in the machine (happens quite often) you can look forward to having to replace the whole drive unit, to which the sockets are connected. This would take about half a day!

Picture and how to do. Notice at the grinding part, you dont have to remove it. Just be gentle while you grind, it can break very easy.

    K PCU to Colour

A sharp pair of side cutters is faster than a file and will draw less attention from your customer than a file!!

I have never had a customer question me as of yet and I have replaced and performed the mod to over a 100 of these. The times when a customer has seen me doing it they have never said anything as of yet.

I'm looking at an MPC4500 and I'd just like to confirm: the procedure is still the same (grinding the back connector and swapping the two front wires) or did anything change for this model?

No wire swap with the 4500, just grind off the corner.
