Ricoh 171 spf sc 500 and adrress book data error

    Hi,
    Happy New year.
I have ricoh 171 spf and after 30.000 copy machine call SC 500.
1.This sc code is drive motor error ,but i change only DRUM UNIT and machine WORKING.
    2. After 2 week work the new machine call ADRRESS BOOK DATA ERROR and i reset in SP 5-846-50.

Ricoh support don't have resolve for this two problems. They don't have this problem with this machins , respectively with SC 500.

    Does any have this problems?

I have seen both issues, but only on rare occasion. The address book error seems more common on the 171 than preceeding models, but SP5-846-50 has resolved all I've encountered. The drum units occasionally leak and / or sieze and cause the main motor lock code SC500. I don't think either is an epidemic isssue so there likely won't be any real recognition or fix.

SC500 is drive motor lock - ive seen it twice and both times it was fixed by replacing a seized PCU.

The addressbook error ive seen a few times and is fixed by trying the SP Zed posted - but Ive also had to replace controller boards to fix it.

They are unrelated tho - just a coincidence I think.

hello to all.. SC 500 also appears. as my experience i check the harness and check
all the possible problem may it takes like cleaning PCU unit fusing transfer and sensors.
so i cannot identify now whats to be the main problem... so its possible is the harness???
    thankz

You can also do the SP 5801-15 (for the address book data error)
As for the SC500 RICOH says it is not epidemic. However if the PCU did not do the 45k you can complain.
I do not mean that they accept but worth a try.

    Hi Ricoco,
You are right on SC 500 Ricoh called that it was not epidemic. We complained and we responded that he had no problem until now. The problem appeared and the 161 and 415 nashuatec. They argue that it is a cold room where we keep OPC UNIT.
I personally thought that the problem is the quality of OPC UNIT, because SC 500 occurs from 20k-25k.
    Thanks.

The strangest thing of all is that, only recently this has been happening.
I think they did this because they want to sell more PCU's.
The strangest thing is that before, the PCU's lasted 60k, 70k, and even more. That does not make a profit. They Thought of a way to sell more ... Lower the quality to not last as long time... I know that what im saying is just a conspiracy... But...

Re: Ricoh 171 spf sc 500 and adrress book data error

For a adresbook error reset use 5-846-09. It seems a bit odd but is THE solution !
You have to set the parameters for scanning again because they have been reset to default.
This also helps on the newer model MP201 (and yes these problems occur even more :-( on that model )
technicians are the only ones that don't trust technical stuff !
