Ricoh Aficio 1105
I have the mother of all errors on this 1105 aficio.
When I switch the copier on, after warm up it will print an internal network configuration page. It will also print a copy count page, even SMC reports, all day long. I can even place these pages on the document feeder and copy with no problem. But when I place a job which has not been printed internally by the copier i.e. random copy job, it will error SC332. Laser synchronization error.
I can even print one at a time the copier internal print jobs, but as soon as I place a random copy job on the copier ADF it will error the same sc332.
I have even placed about 20 pages on the ADF the internal jobs with the random job somewhere located in the pile, and soon enough it will error as soon as the job comes about. Very odd.
Any suggestions.
The laser polygon motor is clean and seems to be spinning quite freely.
Help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Post a scan of the "random" job so we can see it

This is a really old machine, but back in the day we got SC321 Laser errors in copy mode using the ADF. The fix was updated the firmware to 8.8 version

Try to change the door switch's,the small ones in both door's!

The door push switches were a problem on the 850's & 1085's and would give a false fgate error. I'm guessing one of the other door switches could be the culprit.
Doesn't quite explain the random copies causing it, though.
Are the problem originals copyrighted or have some kind of bar code by any chance? I don't remember that causing an SC code, but it would stop the copier. Have you tried changing the direction of the originals? That got me past some insurance forms. (it didn't work for the Casino trying to make copies of their betting forms)
Very strange.

Well so far I have checked the polygon motor again and made sure the area of scan is almost surgically clean.
As I said, the copier has no problem at all printing internal information.
I've tried cheating the scanner by rotating the image and also using the glass instead of the ADF. Because of the price relating to Polygon motors and lasers on this machine with a no return policy from Ricoh, I'm a little hesitant to order. The error (SC322) code does say its to due with laser synch so I have ordered the laser synch sensor. Cheap.
It isn't to do with what external sheets I'm copying, they are completely random, just picked up from the side. It is a copier fault. Could be the brain.
I will let you know.
Cheers

This is a longshot, but have you cleaned the reg sensor? You can get weird faults if it's dirty. I think it's probably due to the machine not being able to match the laser sync and paper reg start / image position.

Keep you upto date with it so far:
I've changed the laser sych sensor and also the above suggested paper reg sensor has been cleaned.
We had a Ricoh engineer here last week, so I showed him the fault on this 1105. He was flummoxed with the fault. Couldn't pin point the error, so still no joy.

Re: Ricoh Aficio 1105
Any luck with finding a solution on this. I currently have 2 Aficio 1085's with this darn code. I have replaced the laser diode unit, polygon, sicu, door switches.
Only difference is I can't print anything from the machines internal or copy. They both go straight to SC322.
