    mpc2500 dog earring

I have issues with a few mpc2500 machines dog earing left hand front corner of a4 page, this is after replacing the fusing unit, bridging unit, and sr790 (not that sr790 is causing it), but due to dog earring the entrance to finisher catching dog ear and causing jam.

fusing unit was whole unit, brand new, can dog ear from all trays, not every copy approx 1 in 20 pages dog earring and folding back, is after the fusing hot roller and pressure roller as dog earing is not folded back and pressed, curled dog earring.

installed tray heaters for moisture in paper trays, increased fuser idle. clean and inspected gates and paper guides.

    anymore advice would be helpful.

we have about 5 of these doing so not one machine issue.

so the paper is jamming in the bridge unit/finisher entrance?
I have seen machines that have been dragged around the office with the finisher still attatched cause similar issues.
It's usually the finisher guide plate being bent out of shape.
Also if the machine is on carpet they may want to consider placing it on a board to stop the finisher sinking into the carpet and causing a hight difference at the finisher entry point.

Are the additional paper guides installed with the bridge unit? There is two small ones on the outside and a larger one in the middle. Without these the paper dog ears and jams in the stapler.

    Are the dog ears flat?
If flat it is before the fuser.
If sticking up it is after.
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

Does the machine have the blue bridge unit mounts installed?

dog ears are not flat so after the fusing unit rollers, the paper is being dog earred after fuser and before bridging unit, even removing bridging unit and finisher paper still dog ears.

finisher entrance guide ok, thats why i swapped the sr790 across as the original unit was bent and twisted and had enough of reshaping finisher entrance guides.

i will check the bridging unit for the extra paper guides (blue ones) as i did not place new bridging unit on.

have you checked the interchangeunit? sometimes the guides on it have smal white plastic that unsticks from the guides casuing this to dog ear the paper.

Im pretty sure the blue guides for the finisher dont go into the MPC2500....only for the MPC4000, and 5000. Ive had the same problem twice and both times I replaced the fuser. I know youve already done this with a brand new unit, but I would try another one anyway. If that dosnt work try another paper exit assy.

About the fuser...im convinced that these machines and parts are all built with slightly different tolerances - like a micron out but thats enough to screw up the paper feed path, so a fuser that works fine in one machine dosnt work in another. Ive seen it too many times - the 4000 and 5000 fuser does the same thing.
