    2045 "kills" drum cleaning blades

This is going for a while now - machine started showing the defect on the attachment. Replaced cleaning blade, problem went away for a while and came back. New cleaning blade, and again problem solved for a while then back again.

Any hints? I find this extremely odd, to be honest - I've seen blades killing the drum, never the opposite!

It could be that the toner recycle is clogged and is not able to transport old toner out and messing up the blade. You can take it apart and clean it out or swap out the whole unit.

Even Ricoh take the second blade off now!

I agree, generic parts will give trouble.

Have you tried running a couple of sky shots after setup just to make sure the blade edge is fully lubricated with toner?

Second blade has been gone for ages.

OEM parts - but I'll double check on that just to be sure.

I've used setting powder on the second blade, but nect time I'll do the sky shots just to be on the sure side.

Thanks for the input - I'll let you know how it goes from here.

How's the charge roller and cleaning roller, I've seen them cause the fault seen in your example.
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change.

I have seen machines where the user did a lot of small originals (ID's) with the lid open.
This causes the recycle system to overload and clog.
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

generally change the tow blades, charge roller and brush, and give the unit a good clean out, this seems to work
