    3260c with code sc863

    Hi,
I have a 3260c keeps showing code sc863 when the customer scans to pc. I understand that the problem lies with the hard drive but on removing the rear cover I find 5 hard drives !! Can anyone tell me which one is likely to be the problem.

    Many thanks......... S

Five? There are four and have to be replaced as a set.

Thanks jomama46, you are right there are 4 not 5.
I reformatted the drive & now do not get the error codes but I still have a problem. I scanned 50 originals ok but when I open the originals in adobe some of them have only half a page & some have 2 halfs of 2 different pages on the same page, usually followed by the message " insufficient data for image ". Is this because the data is being corrupted on the ( faulty ) hard drive ?
    Thanks.... S

Could be but also could be the DF is misfeeding. Set it to single page PDF and see what happens. Or put them on the glass one at a time and see.

Thanks Jomama but I did think of that. I placed a copy on the glass and kept pressing start untill I had scanned 50 times then pressed # to send them...... they were still corrupted so I think the next step will be new drives! Is it possible to change 1 at a time untill the bad one is found or do you really have to change all 4 at once?
    Regards. S

According to the SM you really gotta. They are arranged as a RAID set as I understand it.

They are indeed and you do have to change them as a set.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

If you haven't done it already, check to make sure firmware is up to date. Although bulletin RB132063a doesn't specifically state an output result like the one you describe, it certainly addresses garbled output when scanning.

yes your firmware need to be 1.26. Clear the scanner memory and update firmware.
