    MPC 2500 with 553

I have an MPC 2500 that is popping a 553 in the morning not every day, but a lot. It runs the rest of the day, but I also noticed that the code doesn't always show up on the SMC when it does pop. There is also an associated 991 code. Ricoh said to put the fusing idle time up to 30 sec. We'll see if that works...

I had that problem once and i solve it only by replacing the Fusing Unit.
I tried change the thermistors, Power supply, BICU, upload firmware, nothing works.
But i think i didnt tried to do the procedure that you are saying. If it work say samething ok?

Might be worth checking this as well before fitting a new fuser

    [Problem]
SC 553 Heating roller overheat (software error)
    Answer [Cause]

    • Heating roller temperature stays at or above 230 degrees C for more then 1 second.

    [Action]

    • Check temperatures with SP 1-106-1 for Center and -2 for end.
    • Confirm that the IH Coil fan blades are spinning. We have had reports of the motor running (so no SC532 is detected) but the fan blades are slipping on the shaft, this then causes the heat roller overheat condition.

You're talking about an MP C3500, instead of an MP C2500.

    LOL!!

I've had the same with an MP2000. Every few weeks SC553. Replacing the whole Fusing Unit resolved the problem.

Increasing the idle time took care of the problem. Client hasn't called since I posted so we'll call it a win. Thanks to all the people that responded!
