    Scanning using GMail accounts

Ok, I cribbed this from the official Ricoh Tech Forum site (I posted this previously but this version is more understandable with additional info). I plan on trying this out on Monday, will post results.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------
"Here's a guide that my engineering group & an analyst did to configure the new machines to scan to GMail."

Note: As soon as the Use Secure Connection option is selected the MFP uses port 465 only. No port settings will appear in User Tools once this is enabled. The setting in the WIM is ignored.
Note: only really new machines like an MP C2551 ; MP C3001 ; etc. support scanning to GMail.

    Cool
Color is not 4 times harder... it's 65,000 times harder. They call it "TECH MODE" for a reason. I have manual's and firmware for ya, course... you are going to have to earn it.

I'm not familiar with the Kyocera, you may want to pose this question on their forum. I did a quick search over there and one recent thread stated Kyocera doesn't support SSL, so scanning to GMail may not work. But that doesn't mean there are not ways around it, so give them a shout and see what responses you get.

    Hello teebee!
What about the Ricoh models that do not support SSL? Is there a way to go aroud?
Just need to change the port? or is there anything else?

we have tried to configure scan to gmail with older machines, tried different ports, smtp, etc. but failed. With mpc 3001,mpc4501(most of the latest machines now support ssl over smtp) was able to make it work.

Thanks for that, info on scanning is often sketchy at best
