    Ricoh Aficio 280 network problemo

Cust plugs in a network cable and gets no green connection light...can the nic in the copier be disabled causing this because wont you always get a connection light when plugged into a network or computer whether the driver etc is loaded or not?

    thanks

Well, you should get some kind of light. On older machines you got a yellow for 10mb and green for 100. Later models green for link. I dont know what a AF280 is. What is the product code?

if you can see a yellow light on the nic try using ping to check the connection.

My mistake....its a AF 270...so they get no light at all. So if on the older modesl you only get a light at whatever speed how can you tell if you had a good connection? I thought green was always a good link indicator

As was mentioned, try to ping the IP. This model required 2 drops if you want printing and scanning. and yellow for 10m and green for 100 on this old dog.

Have you confirmed that the data jack at the wall is active? More than once I've found the patch cable in the customer switch room removed from the switch port for one reason or another. Try connecting your laptop or even a 4 port switch directly to the machine and see if you get anything.
