    Generator Power

Hi.. Just a question from those of you who have experience in this area. A customer is planning on using a MP1600L with power supplied from a 20KVA generator. In theory it shud work (I understand) but am I to expect any long term problems?? Any particular adjustments I need to do? Looking forward to your experiences on this matter. thanks & regards

Expect zero cross malfunction and fuser SC's. I don't think it'll bother the little machines too much but it does bother the big ones. Surge surpressor will be an absolute must.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

I would think it would depend on the kind of power it puts out. If its totally pure sine it should be ok and the startup current won't worry the little 1600.

I'm with TonerMunkeh, only if it is in the budget have them put it on a pure sine 'offline' UPS rated to meet the machine demands. Then it will never sees the output of the generator and all the electrical flotsam and jetsam that goes with it. It's expensive but will lead to much more reliable operation, especially if the area is really remote.
