If you're getting this code on a "few" machines, are you tampering with the mechanical counter or zeroing the NVram counter? This is the only thing that can cause this SC.

It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

    hi

no i havnt tampered with the mech counter or the NVram. I only bought these machines 4-6months ago, and the meter was low approx. 50k - 80k. It could be that the company i got them from did!?!

i changed the NVram but no luck, what can i do to fix it?

You'll now have to try replacing the mechanical counter. Failing that it's a new BICU board I'm afraid.

SC901 Mechanical total count error (Mechanical total counter defective)
The IO board cannot receive the
    mechanical total count data.

    Re: Ricoh 3030 SC901

Every time I have seen SC901 it is because the mechanical counter is not connected or the connector is loose. When the controller tries to send a count pulse to the counter, it senses no current and throws the code. On some machines there is an SP setting to turn off the mechanical counter.

in my case i check all even if the cables and conectors and all was ok... only problem was the power supply but after change it problem was solved!
