Answer ID 142868 | FAQ ID 142813 | Rank A2
[SYMPTOM]
A loud vibration is heard from the fusing unit when the machine is operating under the thick paper mode.
CAUSE
Sticking and slipping occurs between the nip pad and the fusing belt at high temperatures, causing vibration. This vibration is transmitted via the nip pad stay and the belt, where it resonates and creates a loud
noise.
SOLUTION
In the field:
If this symptom is reported, do the following steps and adjust the target fusing temperature.
Step 1) Lower the target fusing temperatures in the following SP modes.

Step 2) Make a few copies and check the image quality.
Step 3) If the
noise still appears after the above steps, replace the fusing belt unit or fusing unit.
Important: Lower the temperature by 15 - 20 degrees. Be sure to maintain the temperature difference between "Center" and "Press" in the above table. For example, when changing SP 1-105-021 from 145 -> 125, change SP1-105-022 from 165 -> 145 at the same time.
If the temperature is set too low, fusing offset image problems might appear. Always check the image quality after changing these values.
