Ricoh MP5000 Scan to Folder issues (Windows 7 Professional x64)

    Greetings all,

I'm having some big problems with the scan-to-folder feature on the MP5000. It will work, but after 45 mins to an hour, it will stop working. The only fix for this is to restart the server they're being scanned to.

We have it setup so it will scan to one workstation (Win7 Pro x64), where inside there are multiple user folders (all mapped on the MP5000 correctly) so users can pull their scans off. When it works, it works flawlessly. Then out of the blue it'll stop working.

I've tried turning off SMB Signing, changing DNS, etc. to no avail. Does anyone have any idea what this could be? It's very frustrating and it's impacting productivity at my clients office.

    Thanks.

If it's only a problem with the server I'd tell your customer to set up an XP box to handle the scanning or just use scan to email instead. The MP5000 isn't at fault as the scanning issues are resolved after a server restart.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

Thanks for the reply. I'm hoping it's just a number off somewhere or a port not opened or something. Like I said, it works for a while and works like a charm, until it just decides to stop working. I'm more curious as to why that would happen, rather than setting up a whole new solution.

Thanks Cipher. Is it true that I can't get the firmware unless I'm an authorized dealer?

Yeah just call your local Ricoh dealership and request that the firmware be updated for your model.

    Should be a minimal charge.

I'm guessing this could have something to do with it? Looked in the system log and found this:

Thumbs up Re: Ricoh MP5000 Scan to Folder issues (Windows 7 Professional x64)

Cool, then it's down to good old troubleshooting.

When it stops working you should try doing a network capture using wireshark and see if you can find some clues.
Also checking the Windows event log for errors may shed some light.

Try using a I.P address instead of a name as that would bypass any name resolution issues.
