    ricoh 2051 odd behavior

haven't seen this one before. machine will be working fine and then customer says the machine will "reboot" and go through a diagnostic. she can watch the bars count down and then the machine starts up and runs fine again. this is happening a couple/three times a week. we replaced the hard drive, but that did no good. has anyone seen this? any help would be appreciated. thanx much!!

Sounds like the auto-reboot from SC is turned on. Take a look through the SMC and see if there are any service codes logged around the time that the machine flaked out. If memory serves, there should be a little * next to any codes the machine automatically rebooted from.

SC495 has something to do with Waste Toner Collection (Waste Toner Bottle not set, defective motor, Harness or defective DRB- or BCU-Board)

    Yes Eric i agree..
But i have seen this 'phenomenon' too many times and it is always the same. Two days ago i was repairing an AF-2051 with that symptom.
I'll be waiting for an answer from 'nos' (illinois)

Thanks for all the help. I think we might have got it. Auto reboot was turned on, and the machine had a string of sc355's. I turned auto reboot off yesterday morning and havent heard anything yet(said with fingers crossed), or if you hear me screaming and pulling my hair out all the way from Illinois you will know it came back.
Thanks again to everyone for all the help
