Guys, what settings do I have to change in configuring fax in MP C4501. The client can send but cannot receive faxes. The receiving tone keeps on ringing but no fax receive. The machine is new and so is the fax line.
Any ideas?

User tools>fax features> reception mode> should be in auto reception
Make sure line cord is in "line" not "tel"
check phone line for reversed polarity.

I think you need a new fax controller board, the CML relay is not transferring completely.

But the machine is totally new.I just installed it recently.

Let me ask you this. Is the problem with just one person sending the fax, or with ANYBODY sending a fax to the machine. Could be a problem on the other end, or with the new fax line.(I hate having to deal with fax problems because sometimes it's a line problem and the carrier won't admit it). Turn off ECM and slow down initial RX speed to 14400.

Yes, it could be a low voltage problem also. Have you tried plugging in a small fax machine and test it to see if it receives ok?
I went back to the client and we checked the newly installed machine with fax.We found out that the machine can receive faxes within the area but cannot receive faxes outside the area.Let me cite an example for clear explanation.
The client has a branch office in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia where the machine was installed.The area code of Jeddah is 02. The client's head office is in Al khobar, Saudi Arabia which has an area code of 03. Faxing within an area code of 02 has no problem but with area code of 03 is a problem. Sorry to say, I have less knowledge about telecommunication.
The client has already called the service provider to fix the issue on the fax line.
Sorry for my ignorance on this matter...I think i need to sharpen my mind.
