To Quote Col. Potter from MASH, "horse hockey".
    Maybe a NVram from a 4500 installed on a 3500.
The serial #'s won't match and electronic meters won't match the mechanical.
Spend the extra $200-$300 for a real 4500.
    Just my thought.
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

Swopping NVRAM - that should be interesting to see, because AFAIK the controller and BICU have to be a "matched pair" on most of the new machines.

If you swop boards around you get sc codes on start-up. I had that on an MPC2030 recently. (Sc-195)

A company i worked for many years ago just changed the badge on the front, no body ever checked it with a stop watch and they got away with it every time.

I had something like that happen a few years ago with an LD228c. The label on the front was for an LD232c, which was all well and good until a power issue popped the controller board. I ordered a new controller down, and then kept trying to figure out why the machine kept giving me errors when I put it in, especially when it worked in a few other 232c's in the same location.

Finally, I happened to glance at the label on the back of the machine and saw the build number was B190, not B148. So, another down order for the correct controller. Took me quite a few emails to explain to my manager why I was ordering two different controllers on the same serial.

That's a very dangerous way of doing business.

Interesting did they remove the serial number sticker at the rear of the machine? I would be in fear of being caught and damaging our company reputation.
