I know the older Kyocera machines locked themselves when you tried to copy money. You had to call Kyocera and they could unlock the machine for a lot of money...

That would have been fine then, just use the ones that you copied to pay them off.

Right and include a big tip!

If you aid or abet an illegal act in the name of " giving a solution" you are as liable as the user. Perhaps they can sue You because as a professional, you supposedly know better.

I understand it, I know but I decide the customer, I am professional I know the laws but this case is special because my customer work with bills and they need the copy only for back information about the bills.

You can copy them, but much like any reproductions of currency they must be larger or smaller than the actual item. I had a law firm that used to always copy cheques when people would pay with them. They had to change the magnification to either 115% or 85% for it to work.

It's simply forbidden. You're also not allowed to drive your car through a red light. You can't say to the police officer : "Yes, I know it's forbidden, but can you make an exception for this one time because I'm on my way to a special customer?

Even if you could get the machine to do it, the copy would be encoded (Check with a linen tester!) and if used could be traced by the police to the type and serial number of the machine. They would then contact Ricoh, trace the owner and ask who set the machine up to copy banknotes... that would be YOU!!!!

That'd be a cool function, duplexed number plates!
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.
