    mpc 2050 jams at 24

i am getting a jam code of 24= inverter sensor.

i removed the stapler that sits in the internal to narrow it down.

single sides are ok but when making duplex copies it jams at the exit section (the upper rollers) where it would enter to go through the stapler.

ive checked the actuators on the gate on the duplex side and they seem fine. springs are still on.

machine has done 5000 copies until it started jamming for no reason.

seems like the gates are not diverting the paper into the duplex section.

what can it be? any help would be appreciated.

X2, the sensors in that section are notorious for failure. If you haven't done it yet, do an input check with the sensor blocked and unblocked and confirm if there is a change in state.

I have had problems with the junction gate solenoid not operating correctly. Even with new springs fitted it does not quite open fully in duplex mode. Replacing the junction gate had no effect. Fitting a stronger spring on the lower section of the solenoid cured the problem.

Re: mpc 2050 jams at 24

I have this on an mpc5503.
simplex ok but the paper stops at the inverter rollers. the 024 code just means the paper hasn't reached the sensor, which it hasn't, because the inverter rollers havn't turned.
I've tried turning motors in output check. duplex and exit motors work fine but the inverter motor doesn't work at all.
I've changed the inverter motor for a new one. I've changed the inverter/exit unit for one out of an old machine. (customer has one in the basement they've forgot about).
I'm ready to change the IOB board next.
