I have a Ricoh MPC 3500, changed 2 Black toners, OEM's. Machine will not kick off the Add Toner message. I changed the Black Toner motor. Still the same. Any ideas or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thx.

By black toner motor do you mean the pump?
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.
Hit it.
yes, pump
Go into the service program and turn off the toner end detect. I have had a few machines do this and after running them this way I could go back and turn on the detect and for some reason it worked again.
Are any Cover open signs showing on the display ?
Is there some sort of detect sensor in the back of the machine that can get dirty or faulty.I vaguely remember an issue like this with an spc811 which is very similar.Anyhow I cleaned the sensor and also swapped it with another of the colors as it was easy to do.At least then if the issue came back for the other color I had moved the problem and hence the sensor would be faulty.
Good Luck.
The Grinding noise is probably definitely the Dev unit gears being worn down so there ya answer replace the dev unit assy it comes with dev in it btw.
this can also be the dev unit drive gear. if you pull out the whole pcu unit and look in behind it you can see 2 drive gears. the bigger one of the 2 touches the dev drive gears and can get worn. this will need replaced if worn.
if i remember right its in a weird place in the manual. if you cant find it let and that is your problem me know and ill have a look for you.
cheers
