2012 Savin MP 301: Duplicating Faxes

    Forums,

We are finding that we are having an issue where received faxes are being duplicated by our machine. For example, the same fax will print once and then again a few minutes later.

I check our settings and it is set to print "1 Copy". Is there anything else that could be causing this?

Hmm... doubtful. Could it just be the sender is transmitting it more than once?
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

No it appears to be happening repeatedly. Any other clues? Could be getting interrupted during receiving and then reprinting?

You could test it by sending a fax from another fax line to the machine, unplug it and plug in a generic fax machine and send again. See if both are duplicated, or one or neither.

Re: 2012 Savin MP 301: Duplicating Faxes

    Here's what's happening:

    1) A multipage fax is being received (Example 3 Pages)
    2) Page 1 of Fax prints
    3) A user sends a print job
    4) Page 1,2,3 of Fax print

It seems if the machine receives another job while faxes are coming in, it repeats whatever occurred before the interruption. Any clues?

You can change what has priority for printing. Perhaps put fax at the top of the list for now.

Usually when a machine appears to repeat a fax, it is because of errors. The machine will print some of the fax job and either it or the sending machine will determine there are too many errors and kill the rest of the job. Since it didn't go successfully, the sending machine then tries to resend the job. Rinse and repeat for lots of wasted paper.

Check the fax log and see how many NG's there are. If there are a pile, you may wish to check the fax settings and make sure ECM is off and consider locking the baud rate on receiving fax at around 9600.

i agree, turn ecm off to test but check the faxed text for errors. do you have the fax line going through a surge protector? have you reset the fax sram? also, check the RX log for errors, it might be set to not print incoming errors but its should show something in the log or journal.
