    Black PCU conversion

Sorry to repost off thread. We are very close to needing to replace color PCU's in a C4502 & don't understand how to convert the black PCU.

For model C4502 the cheat sheet says modify the C4502 black PCU D1442250 & remove the stud in the color PCU cavity.

The extended wax bar frame on the black PCU will not permit it to fit in the color cavities. Nor will the wax bar assy from a color PCU bolt up to the black PCU.

    What am I not understanding?

    Thank you,

I fell in that trap. I ended up ordering the color PCU. I tried like crazy to make it work but was unable. I didn't have a cheat sheet to work from, however.

Cheat sheet is contained in thread (RicohMPC4502 PCU) started by Llama God w/ over 4100 views. Multiple posts of the Cheat sheet. What gives? Is the sheet bogus?

Have a closer look. While I haven't worked on this model yet, the "cheat sheet" says to modify a D029 2256 PCU, and the base plate

The MPC2500 Black PCU B2242042 fits in the colour slots with only needing to cut the base plate no wires to change and the MPC2800 Black D029 2256 fits in the black slot with no wires needed to change dosnt need the wopping big lub bar anyway and both are a heck of a lot cheaper even if they don't last as long as the original mpc4502 ones..

            Bantams,

            Thanks for the reply.
I visited the account just now. I think I was misinformed by field tech. We first tried to determine using a modified D0292256 in the C4002 color slots. I was told it would not fit. Thats why I was going for the black C4002 PCU in the color slot. You have confirmed the use of B2242042 for the color application. Am I still good w/ the D0292256 with the three mods. for the color slots? I have several in stock.
I notice a small plastic post on this PCU's rear cap, above & to the rt. of where the machines base frame has its stud that gets removed. Does this need to be removed?

            Thanks Again,

putting the b224 in the col slots just needs the pin on the slots base plate to be cut with a giant pair of wire snips and then you don't have to do anything else it should fit. edit just maybe you need to leave the b224 cover on the front but hey it works and saves you enough money to buy a xbox one

                Re: Black PCU conversion

Sorry to bump this old thread up.

Is this the same for the MP C2800 / 3300???

I've looked all over the site for how to convert a black PCU to Colour for 2800 / 3300 / 4000 / 5000 to no avail.

We currently buy in D0292256 PCU's that have already been converted and if poss would like to know how to do this myself.

We already convert B2242042 PCU's for use in colour of a 2500 / 3000 / 3500 / 4500 by shaving the corner off the connector.
What would need doing to these PCU's to fit into the 2800 etc. ???

It would be brilliant if we can have a one PCU fits 'almost' all units and help me get in the bosses good graces (for the day at least).

                Thanks in Advance.

                  Re: Black PCU conversion

B224-2042 FITS ALL THE COLOR SLOTS MPC2000-MPC5502 JUST CUT THE CORNER OF THE CONNECTOR.

Sometimes you may need to leave the black cover on the front as the col ones don't always fit.

OK, I found the cheat sheet thread, I didn't bookmark it and now I can't find it again. (trumpet: whua whua whuaaaa)

Please forgive me if I repeat something that has already been covered.

                    I understand the conversion for B224 PCU's to colour MP C2000 - 4500

                    and I can convert a D089 PCU for use in MP C2800 - 5000

                    I am not 100% about converting a B224 PCU for use in MP C2800 - 5000
I've seen suggestions to just cutting the wire's. But I don't think it can be as simple as that surely?

                    anyone know about this?

Not that im Repeating myself for the 1000000 time But ALL YOU HAVE TO DO TO MAKE THE MPC2500 B224 PCU FIT INTO THE MPC2800 COLOR SLOTS IS CUT THE EDGE OFF THE CONNECTOR WHERE THE METAL PIN IS AND CHOP THE BLACK STUD OF THE BACK AND IT THEN FITS YOU DO NOT NEED TO CHANGE ANY OF THE WIRES ITS THE SAME AS FITTING IT IN A MPC2500 COL SLOT THE WIRING ON THE BLACK MPC2500 IS THE SAME AS THE COLOR MPC 2500 AND 2800
