    mpc 4500 gamma adjust

    Hi guys

I have a customer who has 2 of theses mcs at different offices. When they print on one the prints are lighter (which is what they want) mainly when doing photos. I have tried adjusting the gamma fir the printer with little success. Is there any adjustment that can make the whole print lighter as when the Id max is lowered the colour changes all over....or will I struggle to get them match?
Networking skills are advantageous but use of a 3m vacuum cleaner is essential

You'll always struggle to get two machines to print identical images. Dev, drum, fuser and ITB life can all have an effect. ID sensors can be more sensitive on one machine than the other. Altering the gamma will also ultimately fail as the machine will sort the gamma out itself as soon as ACC is run.

You could try turning toner saving on on the print driver to see if that has any effect, or lowering the resolution.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

Don't forget that what they see on the monitor is not always what they will get, even with the correct profile set. These machines are primarily copiers, not printers. Also check that what they are printing doesn't have an embedded RGB profile attached, as the machine has to do RGB to CMYK, and you will lose colour.

Also, I'm pretty sure that these are business color copiers, so if you are trying to reproduce photographs you will have to put up with some differences.
On a lighter note, are you using Ricoh toner and decent paper? If not, that sometimes can cause some goofy print quality problems.

The "key" is WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get!)...It's best to let the machine self-calibrate the printer, calibrate on the scan glass for the copier and to calibrate the computer monitor to the printer, invest in either of these two product brands to calibrate your input to your output to build a color profile for consistency:

    Search Results for datacolor

    Search Results for pantone

EVERYTHING depends on the color gamuts of your display and output device!

define: color gamut - Google Search

You can also switch off color matching in the printer driver and let the application manage the colors.
